What Is a Paint & Sip Evening?

What to Expect at Studio Fifty Art...

If you’ve ever scrolled past a Paint & Sip event and thought, “That looks fun… but I can’t paint” — you’re not alone. It’s the most common thing I hear, and it’s exactly why Studio Fifty Art exists.

A Paint & Sip evening is a relaxed, social painting session where you’re guided step-by-step to create your own artwork, all while enjoying a drink in a friendly, informal setting. At Studio Fifty Art, these sessions take place in welcoming pubs and restaurants across Rugby and Norwich, creating a laid-back atmosphere that feels more like a night out than an art class.

Do I Need Any Experience?

Absolutely not. These sessions are designed for complete beginners. You don’t need to have painted since school — or ever. I guide everyone through the process, breaking it down into simple, manageable steps. There’s no pressure to be perfect and no right or wrong way to paint. The aim is to relax, have fun, and enjoy the process.

What Happens on the Night?

When you arrive, I’ll have everything set up for you — canvases, paints, brushes and aprons. You simply grab a drink from the bar (or a coffee if you prefer), take a seat, and settle in.

Over the course of around 2 hours, I’ll guide the group through the painting, offering tips, encouragement and help along the way. You’re free to follow along exactly or put your own spin on things. By the end of the session, you’ll have a finished piece of art to take home — something uniquely yours.

Why Studio Fifty Art Is Different

I started Studio Fifty Art with one clear aim: to make creativity accessible. Many Paint & Sip events charge £30 or more and include a drink in the ticket price. I keep my sessions at £20 and don’t include drinks so that they remain affordable and inclusive — whether you drink alcohol or not — and so people can come along regularly, not just for special occasions.

Holding sessions in local pubs and restaurants also means supporting community venues and creating a sociable, pressure-free environment where people can unwind midweek.

Who Are Paint & Sip Evenings For?

Paint & Sip sessions are perfect for:

- After-work wind-downs
- Catching up with friends
- Trying something new on your own
- Celebrating a birthday or milestone
- Anyone in need of a creative reset

You don’t need confidence, talent or fancy clothes — just an open mind and a willingness to give it a go.
